The following photographs show the terrain around the Otto Farm. Each photograph is taken from high ground held by Confederates, toward the lower areas which had to be crossed by the Federals in their drive toward Sharpsburg. Upon study of these scenes, one can appreciate the difficultly faced by the Union troops, despite their superiority in numbers.
